ETAAC Advanced Technology Report
The purpose of this executive summary is to recapitulate the discussion contained in the current ETAAC Advanced Technology Development Report of the numerous time-critical logistical, financial, and technological challenges and opportunities involved with California meeting the state-mandated reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and a further 80% by 2050. It will first revisit the main points of the report in three sections: renewable energy, energy efficiency, and transportation. The fourth section will summarize the economic development opportunities and challenges in regard to the status of example technologies, policies for accelerating development, and innovative financing tools. The report’s conclusions will follow, with a subsequent section of recommendations for quickly implementing policies that will enable California to take a global economic and technological leadership role in improving air quality.
